The technique of analysis which is used to examine the hypothesis is reQression analysis. Social status of kiai proved that still has strong effect to amount of santri in pesantren Jombang. The second variable which is influential enough is institutional status. The abiturient achievement and pesantren facility just have little contribution to speed growth on the total of santri. Nowadays there are some kiais of Jombang who are brave enough to refuse new applicant santri.
