  • Electric cigarettes consist of nicotine, propylene glycol, flavoring, and vegetable glycerin. Nicotine in electric cigarettes liquid is one of the factor causing blood vessel disorder in the coronary arteries. This study aimed to determine changes in the histopathological walls thickness and luminal diameter of the coronary artery of white rats exposed to electric cigarette vapor. A total 20 male albino rats divided into five treatment groups, K (without e-cigarette vapor), P1 (nicotine concentration 0.3mg/ml), P2 (nicotine concentration 3mg / ml), P3 (nicotine concentration 12mg / ml), and P4 (nicotine concentration 36mg / ml). The treatment in this study was done 14 days. This study was completely randomized design (CRD). The results obtained quantitatively on observations revealed histopathological changes of wall thickness and luminal diameter in coronary artery. From one way ANOVA analysis showed that there were significant differences (P<α;0.05) between control and treatment of wall thickness. Luminal diameters coronary artery has been constriction, but there were not significant differences (P>α;0.05). Both variables showed have a negative correlation from Linear Pearson Correlation analysis. It can be concluded that the higher of the nicotine concentration in e-cigarettes can increase coronary artery wall thickness and decrease the luminal diameter.
