  • The aim of this research is to know the potention of Red Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) peel extract to protect the cells ofspermatogenic and sertoli in seminiferous tubuleof mice induced by Cadmium chloride. There are 5 groups; K-, K+, P1, P2, and P3, in which each group consist of 4 mice respectively. K- was a control group treatedby CMC Na 1%. K+ was orally induced by Cadmium chloride 5 mg/kgBW from day 4 to day 31. P1, P2, and P3 were treated by red dragon fruit peel extract from day 1 to day 31; P1 (250 mg/kgBW), P2 (500 mg/kgBW), and P3 (1000 mg/kgBW), an hour before induced by Cadmium Chloride 5 mg/kgBW. The observations showed significanlly different (p>0,05), in spermatogonium cells laid among group K+ (31.40 ± 2.54), P1 (39.60 ± 2.80) and K- (55.15 ± 8.03); primary spermatocytes K+ (30.03 ± 2.96), P1 (45.98 ± 4.46), P2 (57.63 ± 4,15) and K- (76.83 ± 1.39); spermatid K+ (39.35 ± 4.12), P1 (56.08 ± 9.64) and K- (78.70 ± 6.80). Contrarily,in sertoli cells laid among group K+ (3.28 ± 0.47), P1 (6.13 ± 0.36), and P2 (8.23 ± 1.01). The result showed that the dose of 500 mg/kgBW in P2 is the effective dose to protect the spermatogenic and sertoli cells against Cadmium chloride.
