  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is found in many personal care products. However, dibutyl phthalate is suspected have toxicological effect as an Endocrine Disrupting Chemical (EDCs) and reproductive toxicant both in male and female. This study aims to determine dibutyl phthalate in deodorant. This method used High Performance Thin Layer Chromatohraphy (HPTLC) Densitometric. HPTLC Silica Gel 60F 254 was used as stationary phase and n-hexane : ethyl acetat (8:2) was used as mobile phase. Camag TLC Scanner 3 was used for analysis and dibutyl phthalate scanned at wavelenght 279 nm. The method was validated in selectivity, linearity, accuracy, and precision. The result showed that method was selective to separate DBP from other components in deodorant matrices with good resolution (Rs) ≥ 1,0. Calibration showed good linearity with r = 0,9992 in the concentration range of 50-800 ppm. The limit detection and quantification were 6,68 ppm and 22,27 ppm, respectively. The recovery for accuracy was (97,82 ± 0,96) % and the relative standard deviation (%RSD) for precision method was 3,71%. This method was applied for determination dibutyl phthalate in deodorants. Samples were collected from local market, department store, and online shop. The result that 1 of 3 samples contained dibutyl phthalate. The dibutyl phthalate levels from the sample was (0,24 ± 0,03) %w/w.
