- The purpose of this research was to identify and determine biosurfactant activity of bacteri isolate from Mangrove Ujung Pangkah sediment District of Gresik. Mangrove Ujung Pangkah is known contaminated of heavy metals. Heavy metals could induce microorganism to produce biosurfactant. Biosurfactant have amphiphilic characteristic that can reduce the surface tension. Biosurfactant use for biomedical importance, such as antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Method Biosurfactant activity test used emulsification index, oil spreading, drops collapse, and parafilm test. The result of this research showed that genus of bacteri isolate belong to Bacillus sp. because bacteri isolate was bacil shape, Gram positive, aerob, and having endospore with ellipse shape which was in subterminal of the cell. The result of biosurfactant activity with emulsification index method showed the average 54,39% and the result of biosurfactant activity with oil spreading method showed by clear zone. The average clear zone was 54,83 mm, the average droplets of parafilm test is 8,02 mm, and the result drops collapse test is positive showed by spread and drowned free cell supernatant of bacteri isolate.
