  • This study aims to obtain the standard parameter values of crude drug and 70% ethanol extract from S. acmella grown in Purwodadi, East Java, Indonesia. The method determined to Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia book, and determination of total steroid level were calculated as stigmasterol using TLC-densitometer. Xylem with thickening of ladder, multicellular trichomes, mesophyll, stoma anisocytic type, corolla, pollen, seed coat fragments, and parenkin cells with aleurone had been found in microscopic examination of crude drug. The results standard parameters of jotang crude drug were 15.62 ± 0.55% of water-soluble extractable matter, 3.33 ± 0.24% of ethanol-soluble extractable matter, 0.0131 ± 0.0029% of total steroid levels, 13.42 ± 0.08% of total ash content, 2.56 ± 0.21% of acid-insoluble ash content, 15.20 ± 0.30% of loss on drying, and 13.64 ± 0.57% moisture content. Then the standard parameters of 70% ethanol extract of jotang herbs were 65.24 ± 1.38% of water-soluble extractable matter, 27.92 ± 1.18% of ethanol-soluble extractable matter, 0.077 ± 0.025% of total steroid levels, 20.95 ± 2.27% of total ash content, 5.04 ± 2.46% of acid-insoluble ash content, 25.81 ± 0.52% of loss f drying, and 16.59 ± 1.14% of moisture content.
