- On the grade III open fracture, generally, patient will have an operation so the usage of antibiotic is necessary. On the grade III open fracture is much caused by negative Gram bacteries. Ceftriaxone is the third generation cephalosporin antibiotic which more active toward negative coccus Gram and have an ability to well penetrate the bone. This research is conducted in order to find the usage pattern of Ceftriaxone to the open fracture grade III patient in the Airlangga University Hospital. This research use the descriptive retrospective method toward the medical record data of grade III open fracture in orthopaedic case on 2 Januarry 2014 - 31 December 2017. The inclusion criteria are all of the grade III open fracture patient in orthopaedic case which is uses Ceftriaxone therapy, single or combination with the other antibiotics. Single Ceftriaxone is used 63% (10 data) and combination with Gentamycin for about 37% (6 data). The most usage of Ceftriaxone is Ceftriaxone IV (2x1 gram) which were switched (90%, 9 patient). On the other hand, the most usage of combination between Ceftriaxone with Gentamycin are Ceftriaxone IV (2x1 gram) + Gentamycin IV (2x80 gram) which were switched (50%, 3 patients). The duration of Ceftriaxone injection is for 1-2 days (50%, 7 patients)
