- Background: Reproductive health problems one of the phenomena on adolescents that requires particular attention. Maintaining genital hygiene is often taken too lightly by some adolescents. Accordingly, many adolescents experience various reproductive health problems. The problem can be started from the lack of information about reproductive health they receive. Health education is a preventive action that health service can do. This study was conducted in SMK Kawung 2 Surabaya. This study aims to ascertain the influence of health education on increasing adolescent’s knowledge about genital hygiene. Methods: This study employed quasi-experimental with non-randomized control group pretest post-test design. The population were 74 respondents with 50 respondents as a sample. The sample was divided into 25 people as control group and 25 people as treatment group by using accidental sampling technique. The data were analyzed using Wilcoxon rank test and Mann-Whitney test. Result: The result indicated that there were 56% respondents in the treatment group possessed a good level of knowledge, while there were only 4% in the control group. The effect of the treatment tested using mann-whitney analysis showed that the P = 0.000 (p <0.05). It means that there was an influence of the treatment on adolescent’s knowledge. Conclusion: It can be concluded that health education could increase adolescent’s knowledge about hygiene of female reproductive organs.
