- This research aims to identify the U.S. power and hegemony in The Hitman’s Bodyguard movie by using cold-war discourse. The writer expects to see the representation of power presented through the movie. This research applies qualitative-descriptive method to analyze the power discourse. In addition, the power and discourse theory proposed by Foucault will be the main theory to analyze this film and uses any cold-war discourse to support the analysis. This research found that power is portrayed in The Hitman’s Bodyguard is the power over depicted mostly by Dukhovich’s character. The form of power exemplified by Dukhovich is a form of control over individuals and groups by using terror as a characteristic of totalitarian government. Meanwhile, the power exemplified by Bryce is a form of action that aims to protect others. The hegemony in this film is presented through the Interpol’s mission to end the totalitarian government adopted by Dukhovich.
