- Minocycline, have been shown to suppress the growth of bacteria plaque. Minocycline was reported to induce cytoprotective effects in gingiva l epithelium induced Agregatebacter actinomyctemcomitans. The beneficial effects of the minocyclines were shown to be related to a reductio of the inhib ition of inducible nitric oxide synthase and interleukin (lL}--l (3 expression. The rationale of the study is based on our previous stud ies demonstrating the beneficial am·ioxidant effect of minocycline 0,1% in vitro.
