  • This study aimed to detect the antibiotic residues presence of macrolide group in broiler meat that sold at traditional markets of Surabaya. Thirty samples of broiler meat were collected from ten traditional markets in Surabaya, three samples per market. Examination of broiler meat samples conducted with bioassay method to determine antibiotic residue by observing and measuring the inhibition diameter zone of bacterial growth against antibiotics. The results showed that none of the thirty broiler meat samples were positive for macrolide group antibiotics. This is proven by the formation of the growth zone of Micrococcus luteus bacteria (ATCC 9341) in the medium which is less than 20 ± 1 mm in size.
