  • The aim of this study was to know the presence of Salmonella sp. contamination on commercial pasteurized milk sold by street vendors in Mulyorejo Subdistrict Surabaya. Totally 30 samples of commercial pasteurized milk were bought from three street vendors in Mulyorejo Subdistrict within five weeks. The bacteriological isolation and identification of Salmonella sp. was determined by inoculation on pre-enrichment using Buffered Peptone Water (BPW) and enrichment media using Tetrathionate broth, followed by biochemically in Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA) and Urea. The results of this study showed that Salmonella sp. could be detected in 9 samples of commercial pasteurized milk (30%) sold by street vendors in Mulyorejo Subdistrict Surabaya not according to National Standard of Indonesia (SNI) 7388-2009.
