  • This study aims to determine immunomodulatory effect of tadpole (Rana catesbeiana) serum to increase total cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) in animal model rat albino (Rattus norvegicus) that induced skin cancer. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD). The sample consisted of 20 rats were randomly divided into six treatment groups. The treatments were not be given in K -. K+, P1, P2, and P3 were be exposed to cancer-triggering substances (DMBA or Dimetylbenz (α) anthracene) and then two weeks after the onset lump, K + was be given PZ (1,06 ml/head/day), P1 young frog serum 100% (1,06 ml/head/day), P2 young frog serum 75% (0,71 ml/head/day), and P3 young frog 25% serum (serum 0,27 ml/head/day). Samples of skin organ were be made preparations immunohistochemistry. Results obtained average number of CTL in K - is 0,10a, K+ is 1,00b, P1 that is 2,10d, P2 is 1,70cd, and P3 is 1,35bc. There are significant differences regarding an increase in the number of CTL on each treatment, but there is not real difference between K+ by P3, P1 to P2 and P2 to P3. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a young frog serum immunomodulatory effects of the increase in the number of CTL in animal model of rats induced skin cancer. It is suggested to use the rate of 25% due to more effectively deliver immunomodulatory effects.
