  • Biotransformation using plant tissue culture can change the structure of a compounds into its glycoside. The objective of this research was to study the ability of cell suspension culture of Solanum mammosum L. and Justicia gendarussa Burm.f to transform extract Justicia gendarussa. Based on stability test, extract Justicia gendarussa not resistant to heating, so do the filtration sterilization method. Based on toxicity test, extract Justicia gendarussa concentration can tolerated by cell suspension culture of Solanum mammosum L. and Justicia gendarussa Burm.f was 50000 and 75000 ppm. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) analysis of medium and biomasses showed that biotransformation products was accumulated in the biomasses. The result of TLC and TLC-Scanner showed that there isn’t biotransformation products in Solanum mammosum L. and Justicia gendarussa Burm.f.
