  • The purpose of this research was to know that the window-pane shell (Placuna placenta) flour affected calcium level, thickness, and weight of quail eggshell. There are 100 quail strain Coturnix coturnix japonica with 8 weeks of age were randomized into 4 treatments, with 5 repetitions, and each repetition consisted by 5 female. The treatment are the levels window-pane shell flour to commercial feed, they are P0 with window-pane shell flour 0%, while the P1, P2 and P3 containing window-pane shell flour 2%, 3% and 4% respectively. Based on the result of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) it can be seen that there was significantly different (P<0.05) to calcium eggshell level, respectively 10,396% (P0); 9.876% (P1); 10.008% (P2); and 9,922% (P3). Not significantly different (P>0,05) to thickness of eggshell, respectively 0,227 mm (P0); 0,230 mm (P1); 0,231 mm (P2); and 0,226 mm (P3). Not significantly different(P>0,05) to weight of eggshell, respectively1,078 g (P0); 1,082 g (P1); 1,084 g (P2); dan 1,071 g (P3). It can be concluded that the giving window-pane shell flour of 2%, 3%, and 4% cause increase calcium eggshell level, but there are no effect for thick and weight of eggshell.
