  • The aims of the research was to know the level of bacterial contamination on milkfish sold in Pabean Market Surabaya, then compared it with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No: 7388-2009 ie maximum contaminant bacteria in fresh fish is 5 x 105 CFU/gram. Forty milkfish samples were taken from ten fishmongers at Pabean Market Surabaya. This study was used pour plate method of Total Plate Count test. Total Plate Count was used to determine the level of bacterial contamination on milkfish. The result showed that all samples of milkfish did not exceed the limit of Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No: 7388-2009. The average number of bacterial contamination on milkfish sold in Pabean Market Surabaya was 1,1 x 105 CFU/gram.
