Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest biodiversity, with many species, some used by society as traditional medicine. A. scholaris is one of Indonesian medicinal plants that are widely used as traditional malaria drugs, reported to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and terpenoids. This study aims to evaluate the in vitro antimalarial activity of ethanolic extract of the stem barks of A. scholaris. The concentration of extract were 100; 10; 1.0; 0.1 and 0.001 μg /mL respectively, evaluate against P. falciparum. The blood smear was prepared from each test and stained with 10% Giemsa to calculate the percentage of parasitemia, growth of parasite and percentage of inhibition. Based on the percentage of inhibition, the IC50 was then probit analyzed by SPSS program. The analysis resulted in IC50 of 14.33 μg/mL that is categorized as modarate activity as antimalaria.
