- Intoduction : Stigma receives by HIV positif mothers will cause psychological disorder in daily activity and increases stress among HIV infected mothers. This study aimed to explore the relationship between stigma with coping and stress level among HIV positive mothers at Peer Support Group, Couple Community Surabaya. Method : The design of this study was cross sectional employed 16 HIV positive mothers who experienced recruited by using total sampling technique. The independent variable were stigma and coping; whereas the dependent variable was stress level. Data were taken by using questionnaire then analyzed by Spearman’s rho statistic tes (p≤0.05). Result : The result showed that respondent used positive reapraisal, Self control, Accepting responsibility, dan Seeking social support. There was correlation between coping an stress level (p= 0.022). It can be concluded that respondent use emotional focused coping more than problem focused coping, and there is correlation between coping with stress level. Therefore, this study explained support of peer support groups is also needed to overcome psychological disorders for women who are HIV positive.
