- Language is a tool used by everyone in the world to communicate. Although there are so many languages in this world, we can still communicate with each other using a language called Lingua Franca. We can use English in any country in the world. English in Indonesia is generally taught as a foreign language. Due to the importance of English, it is taught to students from elementary, junior high, up to senior high school in Indonesia. Due to the demand of globalization, students are required to master English properly. In fact, some schools in Indonesia apply the international standard as their curriculum. SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya is an Islamic international school in Surabaya that uses Cambridge as the curriculum. The writer did her internship at SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya as a teacher from 11th January to 12th February 2016. During the internship, the writer experienced being a real teacher. She learned how to handle and look after students and teach them well. The writer also experienced working with foreigner, as the guest teacher in SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya was from Egypt. She also learned how to overcome unexpected situations, such as being a Social Sciences teacher while her major was English Teaching. Although there were some other problems during the internship, the writer managed to cope with the problems and did her internship for a month well. She obtained a score A from her supervisor. The writer was able to apply some subjects that have been studied in English Diploma during her internship, such as Micro Teaching and Public Speaking. The writer really appreciates SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya for giving her an opportunity to be a part of the family and to experience a real life as a teacher. Now the writer knows that being a teacher is not only about teaching subjects to the students, but also teaching manners and good ways of life. The writer recommends SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya as one of the good places for English Diploma students to do internship. Furthermore, the writer felt that this internship was really precious experience because she got what she never known before and she could apply her English skills in it. Hopefully, the experiences and knowledge that she got during her internship can be useful in the future. The writer also hopes that this final report can be useful for the readers as information about SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya and as shared experiences from the writer about her internship as a teacher at SDI Al-Azhar 35 Surabaya.
