  • THE INFLUENCE OF METHOXY GROUP TOWARD PERCENTAGE SYNTHESIS OF 2-METHOXY CHALCONE, 2,4-DIMETHOXYCHALCONE AND 2,2’,4-TRIMETHOXYCHALCONE Fenny Ageng R. The aim of this research was to determine the influence of methoxy group on synthesis chalcones derivative by comparing the yields of synthesis. A series of chalcones was prepared by Claisen - Schmidt condensation of appropriate acetophenones with appropriate benzaldehydes in the presence of sodium hydroxide and ethanol under microwave irradiation. The synthesis chalcones derivative was characterized by Uv Spectrophotometry, FT-IR, and H-NMR. The synthesis product of chalcones derivative is yellow crystal. The yield of chalcone is 75 % ± 2,35, the yield of 2-methoxychalcone is 85% ± 6,79, the yield of 2,4-dimethoxychalcone is 92% ± 0,47, and the yield of synthesis 2,2’,4;trimethoxychalcone is 95% ± 0,82.
