  • Papua is one of provinces with the highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS in Indonesia. HIV infected people in Papua during 2013 to 2015 were 841, 1080, 1047, resepectively. The rate of medication incompliance in Papua is increasing from 15% in 2014 to 20% in 2015. High medication compliance is needed to achieve a high therapeutic efficacy and prevent resistance. However, ARV medication compliance in Papua is still very low. The aim of this study was to determine the association between knowledge, sex, education and medication compliance in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). This was a crosssectional study. Population were people living with HIV / AIDS who received ARV treatment at Karang Mulia Nabire Public Health Center with a total of 74 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were divided into two groups of case and control groups. The result of the study showed that fifty (50) patients were comply ARV treatment and 24 patients did not comply ARV treatment. By using chi square test showed there were no association between ARV treatment compliance with sex, knowledge, and education level of HIV –infected patients (p = 0,951, p= 0,660, p = 0,139 respectively) In conclusion, there was no association between the knowledge of the risk of mediation discontinuation and mediacation compliance in people living with HIV/AIDS
