- This study aimed to know the rectum temperature at artificial insemination and Non Return Rate to the highland and lowland dairy cattle. Sixty seven dairy cattle were used as samples for the highland and fifty two for lowland. Rectal temperature was measured manually on every dairy cattle at the time of artificial insemination. Observation was done on the 21st day after insemination to determine the percentage of Non Return Rate on the 21st day. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis to get the number of Non Return Rate and the average optimum rectum temperature to perform artificial insemination. The results of this study showed that the Non Return Rate on the 21st day was 83,58% which was a representation of 56 dairy cattle for the highland out of 67 samples, and 67,30% for the lowland are 35 dairy cattle out of 52 samples, while the average temperature of the rectum when artificial insemination of dairy cattle in the highlands is 37,60oC and in the lowlands is 38,41oC. Results of this study can be concluded that there is an increasing rectal temperature of estrus dairy cattle in the highland and lowland as well as the Non Return Rate day 21 of dairy cattle in the highland higher than the lowland.
