- This study was made to know distribution pattern of Toxocara vitulorum larvae in chickens as a paratenic host. The study used 28 chickens aged 14 days. These animals were divided into seven groups ( K, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, and P6). K was a control group. P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6 were infected with 3000 embryonated eggs of Toxocara vitulorum. Groups of infected chickens were necropsied 1, 2, 3, 7, 14, and 21 days postinfections (dpi). Sampel of the lungs were prepared for histopathologic studies. Experimental chickens exhibited hemorrhages in lungs on all days postinfections (dpi). Histopathological observed was bronchitis, edema, interstitial inflammation, and intra-alveolar inflammation in chicken from P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6 groups. The data of histopathologic were analyzed by Kruskal wallis test, followed by Z test. The result of analysis showed K was significantly different (p<0.05) with P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, and P6, but P1 was not significantly different (p>0.05) with P2, P3, P4, P5, and P6. The result showed that L2 Toxocara vitulorum could cause damage in paratenic host’s lungs.
