- Humans are social beings. The basic of human beings is to seek and maintain interpersonal relationship. Humans need to interact with others in order to make bonds to each other. Communication is one of the most daily activities in human’s lives. People can deliver messages and information from one to another by communication. Communication is the process of information conveyed from one particular place to another place (Miller: 1951). There are various types of communication and more than one may occur at the same time. The types are verbal communication, non-verbal communication, and written communication. Verbal communication focuses on spoken words, as well as ensuring that the enunciation, stress and tone of voice with which the words are expressed. Verbal communication is used in face-to-face communication, telephone, radio, and television. Different from verbal communication, nonverbal communication uses the facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, posture, and a little tone of voice. The ability to understand and use nonverbal communication, or body language is important for humans. This ability can be a powerful tool that can help people connect with others and express what they really mean. Besides verbal and non verbal communication, written communication also becomes the most important part in social interact. Good writing skills become the main part in this type of communication. It allows people to communicate their message with clarity and ease to a far larger audience than through face-to-face or telephone conversations. Some examples of written communication are letters, e-mails, books, magazines, internet, and social media.
