- PT. PP (Persero) applied safety talk on its construction project site as an effort to reduce occupational accidents. Safety talk was conducted persuasively to increase compliance with PPE use. The aim of this study was to analyze influence of safety talk and workers’ characteristics on compliance with PPE use. This study used quantitative approach. It was analytical observational with a cross sectional design. This study was conducted on construction project site in P1 and P2 buildings, Petra Christian University on January 2016. The total of respondents was 44 workers. Technique of data collection utilized questionnaires and checklist observation. The result of this study showed that 71.6% variation of compliance with PPE use could be explained by variations of attractiveness, credibility, communicators’ power, safety talk message perception, knowledge, motivation and attitude. Also, it was found that 57.3% variation of compliance with PPE use could be described by variations of age, work period, education level and marital status. It could be concluded that the highest influential variables contributed to the compliance with PPE use were credibility and power of safety talk communicators. Furthermore, result of linear regression demonstrated that workers’ characteristic variables which gave the most significant influence on the compliance with PPE use were work period and age
