  • Dental caries was being an infectious disease resulting email and dentin demineralization. In general, children enter school age have a high caries risk, because at this school age children had a habit of eating foods and beverages cariogenic. This research wasobservational with cross sectional approach. The purpose of this study was to recommend of empowering PE teacher to decreasethe prevalence of caries among student. This research was conducted at Putat Jaya Health Center Surabaya. The sample was 22 PE teachers in primary school.The results showed that most respondents had good awareness, medium capacity but lack in trust and participation in school dental health service that may conduct with the attitude of dental care. Recommendations obtained based on this research were providing information by dental health education; using variety of media health promotion to attract teacher and student; and improving quality of service quality of dental care. This paper reviewed the range of school-based approaches to oral health and describes what meant by a Health Promoting School. Health Promotion noted that schools could provide a supportive environment for promoting children’s dental health. However, while a numberof well-known strategies were being applied, the full range of health promoting actions was not being used globally. A greater emphasise onintegrated health promotion was advised in place of narrower, disease- or project-specific approaches. Recommendations were made for improvingthis situation, for further research and for specifying an operational framework for sharing experiences and research.
