- Background: Long-Acting and Permanent Contraceptive Method (LAPM) such as implants, IUDs and tubectomy continued to decline while the use of Non LAPM continued to increase. Family planning was dominated by the utilization of injections and pills whereas the dropout rate were highest. The use of LAPM can be influence by social support (husband, friends, family, healthcare and Family Planning Officers) and Mother's Personal Perception concerning to LAPM. Objective: To analyze the influence of social support and perception of the use of Long-Acting and Permanent Contraceptive Method (LAPM) in Fertile Women in the working are of Beruntung Raya Health Center in Banjarmasin. Methods: Observational analytic study design using case-control design was being applied. Simple random sampling was chosen with ratio of case: control = 1: 2, in which the case consisted of 23 individuals (LAPM users) and controls consisted of 46 individuals (Non LAPM users) so that the overall sample size was 69. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Result: There was an influence of social support on the use of LAPM (p: 0.018), there was an influence of perception of the threat to the use of LAPM (p: 0.046), there was an influence of perception of barriers to the use of LAPM (p: 0.026) and there was an influence of perception of elf efficacy to use LAPM ( p: 0.049). Perception of the benefits did not influence the use of LAPM (p: 0.117). Conclusion: The higher the social support, perception of threat and the perception of self efficacy, the higher the use of LAPM. The higher the perception of barriers, the lower the use of LAPM. Suggestion: Its needed to build positive information through providing education concerning to the successful use of LAPM, so as to build social support and correct perception in the community.
