- Background: Space Maintainer can be made from metal or resin, and can be made either removable or fixed. Space maintainer also can fabricating as a retainer. With the rapid technological developments, new procedure for manufacturing the Space Maintainer was appeared, namely the materials Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint. This material is well accepted because of the aesthetic better than traditional materials, stainless steel, and fixed appliance. It is also easy to set up, has a good fatigue resistance and dimensional stability. Laboratory procedures of making space maintainer with Clear Treatment Splint Thermoplastic material is more complicated because it required additional training. Purpose: To know the procedures of making Space Maintainer with Clear Treatment Splint Thermoplastic materials. Review: Space Maintainer is a device that used to keep the space due to the early loss of deciduous teeth. As for the kinds of space maintainer, namely fixed and removable space maintainer. While the material, is used Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint has excellent chemical resistance and easily be formed. Conclusion: Laboratory procedures of making space maintainer with Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint materials are trimming models, the addition of dental elements, inserting sheets Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint into the clamping frame, put a model in the vacuum plate and provide material separation, allowing the plastic to adapt for 10-15 seconds and switch machine, lifting working model of the vacuum forming machine, cut off excess plastic scraps, finishing and polishing
