- The objective of this research was to analyze the factors/variables which were dominantly affecting the performance of the TB officers at the primary health centers in Jember District in 2010. The research used an observational analytical method with cross sectional approach. The population of the study was all the TB officers at the primary health centers in Jember District. The total samples were 49 persons (total population). The data were collected by using questionnaires and structure interviews. The methods of data analysis were univariate and bivariate. The results of univariate analysis the research: the average age of the respondents was 41.65 years, the majority of the respondents were male, the majority of the respondents graduated from Diploma 3 Years of Nursing study program, the majority of the respondent had medium knowledge level, most respondents had medium motivation, supervision of 2010 were not yet carried out, the majority of the respondent had followed training for TB officers of primary health center, the average duration of service as TB officers was 8.67 years, the majority of the respondents carried out the duties as TB officers as additional tasks, and the majority of the respondents took the incentives provided by their institutions. The average score of their performance was 23.1 of which the minimum score was 10 and the maximum score was 30. The performance of most respondents was low. The results of bivariate analysis based on the value of Prevalence Ratio for each variable were: Age (2.832), Sex (1.031), Education (1.378), Knowledge (3.112), Motivation (2.832), Training (0.900), additional task (1.156), Duration of Service (1.525), Rewards/Incentives (1.558) and supervision for 2010 were not yet conducted. Concluded, that dominant variables affecting the performance of the TB officers respectively were knowledge, motivation and age. Suggestions: training for TB officers (beginners and refresher), supervision and validation should be continued, further research should address other factors with more samples selected by using random sampling technique.
