- The addictive of Korean Pop Music (K-POP) recently being a trend dan new idols for the teenagers and adult. On some idol group there’s a girlband and boyband, but this research will discuss abaout representation of a Korean male singer’s masculinity through music video, and the chosen video is TVXQ’s music video called Mirotic. This research using qualitative approach with the help of semiotic analysis from Roland Barthes whose focused on signifier and signified is the sign that we believed in such as written paper or voices in the air we heard (Fiske, 1990:47). Pictures in this clip will be analysed in both denotation and connotation ways as the sign is works on the first order. Denotation is the most stabil and objective sign to its connotation (Thwaites, 2002:62). Connotation from a sign is a thing about something that signed (Thwaites, 2002:60). Myth is the second way from Barthes about how the sign works on the second order. Subject on this research is pictures of costume, haircut, accessories, make up, bodyshape, expression on the videoclip of Mirotic. Result of this research found that characteristics of the meaning from pictures of costume, haircut, accessories, make up, bodyshape, expression on Mirotic music video able to represent masculinity of K-POP’s young boyband, they are a young men with a strong special features and characters that produce masculinity with a composite of boyish softness and assertive masculinity. They are a fashionable men, care about their look, take a good care of their bodies, and a dandy guy. In addition, the type of fashion style they applied became their standard masculine look and being the K-POP boyband’s masculinity which is not just a trend but also as identity and special features of male entertainer in South Korea music industry.
