- ABSTRACT This study is dealt with two focuses. The first concerns with the change in the function of "Wayang Topeng" (Mask Puppet) Glagandowo. The second is dealt with how the community of Glagandowo respons to the existence of the puppet. The methodology of this study is qualitative-based, especially ethnographic model. In addition, this study depends much on both participant observation and indepth interview to collect the field data. The qualitative method in particular relying on "narrative realism" was used to analyse the collected data. This study indicated that the existence of the puppet seems to be distressed. This condition is related to the following facts, these include the technology of communication and transportation, which have in fact affected to the change in the function of the puppet from profane to sacral function.
