- The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pomegranate extract to content of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine serum on white rats after bile duct ligation ( BDL ). In this study used 32 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar 2.5 months who weighs between 150-200 grams. Thirty two white rats were divided equally into four groups, control group (P0) and treatment groups (P1,P2 and P3). A control group (P0) of white rats underwent laparotomy, P1 group of white rats underwent BDL technique with sodium CMC Na 0,3%, P2 group of white rats underwent BDL technique with ellagic acid, P3 group of white rats underwent BDL technique with pomegranate extract, all treatments were observed during 21 days and blood was taken of intra cardiac. The result of research showed that between P0 (control group) and P1,P2,P3 (treatment groups) were significantly different. The conclusion of pomegranate extract on white rats had BDL decreased the levels of BUN and creatinine serum levels.
