  • This expost facto study was aimed at knowing the intensity of Subject Matter Teachers Convention (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran, MGMP) activities, frequency of training, degree of basic competence in instruction, and teaching performance of Senior High School (SMU) teachers. The study was carried out at State Senor High Schools (SMUs) in Malang municipality. The sample consisted of 104 out of 514 teachers from 9 SMUNs drawn randomly. Data were gathered by administering a questionnaire and then analyzed statistically by applying the path analysis. The result showed that teaching performance was influenced directly by intensity of MGMP activities and degree of basic competence in instruction, and indirectly by frequency of training
