This study was intended to find out whether&#xD; the use of neighborhood walk technique was effective or not for improving&#xD; students&#x2019; speaking ability. It was aimed at investigating the students&#x2019; responses&#xD; toward the use of neighborhood walk technique used for teaching speaking. The&#xD; method of the research was quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test&#xD; nonequivalent. The participants of the study were two classes of second grade&#xD; students of SMPN 1 Ciparay, VII J and VII I those were the control group and&#xD; experimental group. The instruments of the research that were applied were pretest, post-test, questionnaires and the treatment was implemented and was&#xD; administered to the experimental group. The data from the pre-test and post-test&#xD; were analyzed by using SPSS 23 for Windows. The data from questionnaires were&#xD; analyzed by using a Likert Scale. In addition, df=38 with the level significance at&#xD; 0.05 is 2.024 (see on the t table on appendix) and the value obtained is 4.464. It&#xD; means that the tobtain &gt; tcritical (4.464 &gt; 2.024), therefoe the null hypothesis was&#xD; rejected. It indicated that there was difference between the experimental and the&#xD; control group score after treatments. Furthermore, the result of questionnaires&#xD; showed that the most of students gave positive responses toward the use of&#xD; neighborhood walk technique in teaching speaking. It can be concluded that&#xD; teaching speaking using neighborhood walk technique can make the students feel&#xD; more fun, enjoy and attractive in the class.
