- The article discusses the rank-shift and semantic-shift in the process of translation. The study concludes that in the translation process, the two shifts, rank-shift and semantic-shift, may occur. This happens as to find the suitable or right word, that is the word that carries the most natural meaning in the target language, Indonesian language.
