- Electrical energy crisis in the next decade will certainly be a threat for whole nation, including the development of architecture field. The construction plan of thousand apartment tower was a competition event for architects to create energyefficient architectural works. The envelope design had a very important role in controlling energy. Article describe the role of building envelope in the apartment design to save energy in humid tropical region. By means of a literature review, visiting study, and research, the images of two important aspects in saving energy were obtained. They were heat control caused by solar radiation and utilization of natural light for room lighting. Article will show some samples of radiation control on multiple building envelopes, to reduce heat load inside the room and as an attempt to use natural light for room lighting to save energy.
