- This research described about a the life patterns of the economic , social and cultural in the life of the village community Lebong Tandai that relating to the activity gold mining known as the condition of pokeng. Based on it, so this study attempts to described in depth on the details of the condition pokeng occurring in an activity mining gold the village community of Lebong Tandai. In addition the research also aims to understand forms the strategy took by the community gold mine village Lebong Tandai in get a condition the pokeng. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research types. The data collection techniques in this study were carried out through interviews, observation, documentation and literature studies. Meanwhile in the selection of informants, this research uses purposive sampling technique, namely the selection of informants intentionally based on the purpose and objectives of the study. The results of this study indicate that pokeng is a difficult living condition, in which there is a decrease in income from miners due to the reduction in mining products (amount and content of gold seeds) obtained by miners. At the time of the pokeng condition, there were also several socio-cultural conditions that accompanied the life of the community of Lebong Tandai Village, including: (a). Changes in demographic patterns, (b). Declining economic activity, (c). Lifestyle changes occur. The pokeng conditions that occur in gold mining activities and the lives of the people of Lebong Tandai Village are caused by two factors including the first factor of natural conditions (the state of the old mine pit) and the second is due to the absence of a new mining pit carried out by the miners. As for the forms of adaptation strategies carried out by the community in dealing with / anticipating the conditions of pokeng, that is, (a). Reduce expenses (downsize), (b). Increase the number of hours worked, (c). Conduct alternative economic activities, (d). Ngentol (hitchhiking and cooperation), (e). Nyerbuk (f). Ngebitai, (g).
