Postgraduate Program of Linguistik Faculty of Humanity Andalas University, 2018. Supervisor: 1. Prof. Dr. Nadra, M.S. and 2. Dr. Rina Marnita AS, M.A. This research aims to 1) describe the phonological variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese; 2) describe the morphological, variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese; 3) describe the lexical, variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese. This reasearch is a descriptive research with a qualitatif approach. The method that used in this research is method that proposed by Sudaryanto. The data are collected by using observational method, the technique applied in collecting data are interview, recording and taking field notes. In analyzing data, the researcher used a distributional method. The presenting the result is by using formal (signs and symbols) and informal method (descriftive of ordinary word). The result of this research are 1) the phonologycal variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese consist of 8 differential. They are 4 vocal variations and 4 consonant variations. The vocal variations are [ə]~[e], [i]~[e], [u]~[o], and [a:]~[a]. The consonant variations are [w]~[Ø], [y]~[Ø], [b]~[Ø], dan [ɤ]~r]; 2) the morphological, variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese are variation of morfem [-aw]~[ɲaw] as a possesive and persona pronoun, variation of suffix [-ka]~[kan], variation of reduplication consist of partial reduplication in single form that used Serawainese and partial reduplication in complex form and intact reduplication that used Minangkabaunese; 3) the lexical variation in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese consist of 53 variation of lexicons. As a conclusion, there are phonologycal variations in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese because there are sounds that not usual used in Minangkabau language, for example [ə] and [ɤ]. The are morphologycal variations in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese because there is differential in word formation process, For example in reduplication. At last, there are lexical variations in Serawai language that used by Minangkabaunese and Serawainese because there are lexicons that not usual to use and it is also related with sounds that not usual used in Minangkabau language.
