  • Background and Objective The incidence of cervical cancer was estimated increasing from year to year. One of the method for early detection of cervical cancer is VIA. VIA method recommended by WHO as early detection method for cervical cancer in low income countries. However, the implementation of VIA in Air Dingin Health Centre is still low. This study aims to determine the factors related to the implementation of early detection of cervical cancer with VIA method in the work area of Air Dingin Health Center. Methode This was quantitative study with cross sectional design, conducted in the work area of Air Dingin Health Center from November 2016 to September 2017. The respondents were fertile women aged 30-50 years counted for 64 people, by accidental sampling. Data were collected using questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by using univariate and bivariate. Result The result showed 68,8% of women childbearing age never had VIA screening. Bivariate analysis showed there was no association between age (p= 0,251), education level (p=0,971), employment (p= 0,831), distance and travel time (p= 1,000), there was an association between knowledge (p= 0,017), support of husband (p= 0,009), there was a tendency for significant association between family income with the implementation of early detection of cervical cancer using VIA method in the work area of Air Dingin Health Center Padang City in 2017. Conclusion There is a relationship between knowledge, and support of husband with the implementation of early detection for cervical cancer with VIA method. For that reason, it is expected that health workers provide information and health education to fertile women and partner about cervical cancer and VIA in order to increase mother's motivation in performing VIA examination.
