- Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) is proved to have activity as an antioxidant based on previous research. Almost all parts of melinjo tree can be utilized, especially the fruit and leaves which can be used as food. The research steps begin with extraction and fractionation. Melinjo fruit rind extraction was done by maceration method using methanol. Then the methanol extract was fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. Each fraction was tested for bioactivity ie antioxidant, and determination of total phenolic content. The fraction of ethyl acetate is classified as active antioxidant with IC50 value 98,81 mg/L while the fraction of n-butanol, methanol and n-hexane are moderately antioxidant with IC50 146,56 mg/L, 210,86 mg/L and 229,24 mg/L respectively. The highest total phenolic content of the melinjo fruit rind is in the ethyl acetate fraction which value is 20,91 mg GAE / 10 mg dry fraction. While n-butanol, methanol and n-hexane fractions are 18,03 mg GAE / 10 mg dry fraction, 13,94 mg GAE / 10 mg dry fraction, and 1,81 mg GAE / 10 mg dry fraction respectively.
