- Low Back Pain (LBP) is the most common problem worldwide. LBP is a pain in low-back that related to problems on vertebrae lumbar, intervertebral discs, ligament between vertebral and discs, spinal medulla, and low-back nerves. The aims of this research are to find the correlation between sitting position and sitting time with LBP complaint occurrence among medical students in Medical Faculty of Andalas University class of 2014. This is an observational research with cross-sectional design. The research was conducted on 77 research subjects that were chosen by simple random sampling method. The research was conducted by doing direct observation on the subject and filling the questioner by subject. The research was analyzed by using chi square analysis. The result showed that there was 19 (24,67%) medical students experiencing LBP complaint occurrence. Based on chi square analysis, there were no correlation between sitting position and LBP complaint occurrence (p > 0.01). There were also no correlation between sitting time and LBP complaint occurrence (p > 0.01). The conclusion of this research is there are no correlation between sitting position and sitting time with LBP complaint occurrence among medical students in Medical Faculty of Andalas University class of 2014.
