Daftar Isi:
  • Gelinggang (shrub) is a dicots which have tap root, it belong to Leguminosae family and species Senna alata L. Roxb. This plants is originally from tropical region of Amerca and spread in Indonesian, especially Sumatera. This study is aimed at determining secondary metabolite compound, antibacterial activities, antioxidants and total phenolic from the extract of shrub’s leaves. Extracts obtained by maceration method from n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol solvent. Antibacterial activities are tested by using disk difussion method toward the bacteria gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and bacteria gram-negative Escherichia coli. The antioxidant activity is determined by using analysis of DPPH(1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. Total rate of phenolic is determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method. Gelinggang contains several secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoid, phenolic, and steroid. The result of the research shows that the strongest antibacterial activity of bacteria Escherichia coli is the extract n-hexane zone of inhibition 10 mm at the concentration 1000 mg/L and in the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus is extract n-hexane with zone of inhibition 11,67 mm in the concentration 1000 mg/L. The most active antioxidant activity is the ethyl acetate extract with IC50 = 45,8251 mg/L compared to other extracts. Ethyl acetate extract has the highest total of phenolic at 1438,1 mg/L GAE.
