- The study of "screening and characterization of endophytic bacteria from Sonneratia alba (Sonneratiaceae) as the antibiotics producers " which has done since October 2016 to November 2017, aimed to acquire the isolate of endophytic bacteria from S. alba that can produce antibiotics and identify the endophytic bacterial groups from S.alba. This research was conducted at Microbiology Research Laboratory, Department of Biology and Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Andalas University. This study used survey and experimental methods with descriptive data analysis. The selection of bacteria that produce antibiotics was using paper disc method use Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus for testing bacterial. The results of this research obtained nine isolates of bacteria that produce antibiotics with antibiotics different abilities, where seven of them had ability against E.coli, seven of them had ability against S. aureus and there are four of them had ability against both of testing bacterial. The result of characterized isolate of endophytic bacteria macroscopically, microscopically and biochemistry tests on the nine isolates the bacteria was in two generas, those are Bacillus and Escherichia, with 5 types of Bacillus and a type Escherichia.
