- The purpose of this research is to investigate the correlation between extracurricular activities and academic achievement among high school students in Padang, the case is SMAN 1 Padang .The data was obtained by using questionnaire. The samples were drawn from 180 students that divided into active and non-active students both male and female students. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 16.0. It conduct the one-way ANOVA and descriptive analysis and confirmed by several open questions. There are two variables in this research, which are extracurricular activities and academic ahievement. The findings indicated that there is positive and significant correlation between extracurricular activities and academic achievement. In addition, the results show that the students who actively participate in extracurricular activities are had a high achievement compare to the students who are not.
