- Hemodialysis therapy is necessary for patients with end stage chronic renal failure continued survival, but on the other hand can lead to changes in nearly all aspects of life of patients, such as: physical and mental aspects, the social aspects of economic, sexual and spiritual that can affect the quality of life of patients. This research aimed to analyze the quality of life in patients who undergoing the hemodialysis therapy in the hemodialysis room at RSUP.DR.M.Djamil Padang. The research design that be used is descriptive.. The sampling technique is purposive sampling with a total 66 people. Quality of life assessment instrument using KDQOL-SF36 contains 24 questions. Data processing displayed in proportion value of the frequency distribution table. The result showed more than half of patients who undergoing hemodialysis therapy have a poor quality of life (57.6%), has bad aspect of physical health (PCS) (60.6%), has bad aspect of mental health (MCS) (60.6%), has bad of burden kidney disease (56.1%), has bad of symptom and problem kidney disease (56.1%), has bad effect kidney disease (56.1%). Nurses need to understand about the aspects of quality of life related to physical health problems, mental health as well as concerns about renal disease hemodialysis patients in order to prepare the nursing interventions and undertake appropriate actions to improve the quality of life patients.
