- Mesoporous silica has been synthesized and modified with aniline as a support for catalyst Fe(III). Characterization by FTIR and XRD showed that the modification process with aniline has occurred and does not affect the structure and the main framework of mesoporous silica . Based on FTIR analysis result, it can be concluded that the grafting process of metal ion Fe(III) has been successfully performed. The measurement result with AAS showed that Fe-loading mesoporous silica modified has relatively similar Fe – loading ability with amorphous silica and mesoporous silica (79, 81 and 82). The metal leaching , support developed in this research have metal leaching of (0.018 %) compare with amorphous silica (0.015), but better than mesoporous silica (0.031 % ) .
