- in order to fulfill their national interest a country will not only focused on military or economic power but also on how they frame their image. this research specifically conducted by Japan's public diplomacy through NHK WORLD to gain good image in East Asia Region after a magnitude earth quake that caused tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Fukushima Daiichi on March, 11 2011. this research include qualitative research with descriptive analysis. It also used public diplomacy concept by Nicholas J. Cull. The aim of this research is to show the Japan's effort to change their image with programs in NHK WORLD. After the disaster Japan could not deny that it brings unluck to the country specially to the East Asia Region that tightly have bad past memmories with Japan, it make the Japan image worse. using public diplomacy by having NHK WORLD as the agent like they used of it during the World War II is the choices that Japan made. this research then found that Japan through NHK WORLD did four of five public diplomacy activities based on Cull's concept. Those activities are advocacy, cultural diplomacy, cultural exchange and international broadcasting.
