  • This study aimed to investigate the types of teacher’s talk most occur at seventh grade. It was conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah 50 Medan at the VA grade class. The instruments of the research were observation tallies sheet and recording. To answer the research questions, this study used descriptive qualitative method. Data were analyzed descriptively based on Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) system by Moskowitz (1971) as cited in Brown (2001). The results revealed that asking question was the most commonly used category of talk by the teacher at seventh grade in SMP Muhammadiyah 50 Medan. This means that the teacher tended to use direct influence rather than indirect one.
