  • This study is a descriptive qualitative research which aimed to analyze the cognitive domain of reading questions of summative test based on Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy towards IX, VIII, VII fullday and regular classes of SMP Muhammadiyah 07 Medan. The data were 6 tests consisted of 111 reading questions which taken from English final examination and the data were analyzed by using observation sheet of HOTS based on Bloom’s revised taxonomy and wellproportion test by using Bloom’s revised taxonomy. Based on the data analysis, the existing English summative test had not distributed cognitive domains proportionally and fulfilled the portion of Bloom’s higher order thinking skills, except only VIII regular class. The findings implied that there were 2 levels of higher order thinking skills occurred in student summative test of SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan, they were analyzing (6,3%) and evaluating skill (0,9%), however there was no items on the level of creating skill. The higher order thinking skills used in this summative test of reading comprehension text could only test the analyzing and evaluating skill in determining the meaning of text relates one of another and make a judgement based on criteria and standards through checking and critiquing.
