Formal and Dynamic Equivalence in Red Queen Novel by Victoria Aveyard

- The study deals with Formal and Dynamic Equivalence in Red Queen Novel especially for the utterances of main characters . The objectives of the study were to investigate the dominant type of equivalence translation in the translation process of English-Indonesia Red Queen novel by Victoria Aveyard. Qualitative research method is used to complete this research. The data of this study were the utterances from the Red Queen novel. The data of this research were analyzed by using Nida’s theory. The researcher found there are 418 items of utterances that contain equivalence types based on Nida’s Theory. There are 232 items (55.50%) of Formal Equivalence and 186 items (44.50%) of Dynamic Equivalence in the novel. At the result, the translation process conducted by the translator is dominantly source language oriented because there is no significant change whether in the aspects of syntactic and grammatical features.
